Two German experts on compensation and indemnification problems have been assigned to the German Embassy here to process complaints of people, most of whom are Jews, who have not yet received satisfaction of claims against the West German Government.
Meanwhile, nearly 1,000 former German nationals, the vast majority Jews, packed a meeting here to hear Joachim Lipschitz, Minister of Interior in the municipal administration of West Berlin. Herr Lipschitz, a half-Jew, reported that 50 Jewish families a month were returning to take up life in Berlin. He said they were ” very welcome.”
Commenting on the attitude of the East Berlin administration toward Jews, Herr Lipschitz charged that the “Communists have learned much from Hitler. They play the old tune that Jews are capitalists. It finds an echo among the sad and discontented population. There is no attempt to make amends for the horrors of the past among the rulers of East Germany, and no compensation.”
