The first two members of a delegation of German Jewish communal leaders who have been invited by American Jewish organizations to visit the U.S. and study the make-up and operations of these groups sailed today for the U.S. aboard the S.S. General Patch. The two leaders — Ernest Landau and Jean Mandel — who are due to arrive in New York May 14, are bringing with them three Torahs saved from the Nazis. The Scrolls will be presented to the Synagogue Council of America.
