A proposal by the Jewish Central Committee of Ger-many that the German Jewish communities in the United States zone merge with the committee has been turned down by the committee, it was learned here today.
The committee, however, have agreed to the creation of a central commission for restitution, indemnification, social welfare, medical care and the organization of cultural activities. The Central Committee and the central body of the communities will each appoint three members to a body which will take over the combined functions, it was reported.
