To fight for equal rights in the country on the ground of self-respect, is the aim of the German Jews organized in the Central Union of German Citizens of the Jewish Faith, declared Dr. Berlak at the conference held this week at Wuerzburg of the Union of German Students of the Jewish Faith, an affiliated body. Today the fight must be extended, he went on, to reject the doctrines of Nationalist Judaism, in the same way as we reject absolute assimilation.
In political party questions in Germany, a second speaker, Dr. Fuchs, declared, the Union is neutral, but it is pledged to oppose all anti-Semitic parties. The German Jew, he continued, is a part of the German people since the period of the Emancipation. Jewish Emancination, however, is possible only in a liberal German State and therefore the work of the German Jews is to fight for the preservation of such a liberal German State.
