The Mining Federation headed by the Nationalist leader, Dr. Hugenberg, by Baron Loewenstein and Dr. Kirdorf, which financed the Hitlerist Party in the Parliamentary elections of last September by giving them millions of Marks, has made them another grant of half a million Marks, the “Rheinzeitung”, the Socialist organ in Cologne reports, declaring that the source of its information is absolutely authoritative.
During the meeting of the Mining Federation, when the question of the grant was discussed, it says, several of the members opposed it, contending that the Hitlerist programme is Socialistic, the actual name of the Party being “National Socialist Party”, and that therefore a grant would be helping forward the Socialist movement which would destroy the Mining Federation. The leaders of the Federation assured these objectors, however, that the word Socialism is only a mask, and in reality Hitler had given them guarantees that the Party would give every protection to the interests of the industrialists.
