Police have arrested a 17-year-old neo-Nazi in the central German city of Gottingen for fatally stabbing a soldier this week, and are searching for an accomplice.
The victim, who was 21 and identified only as Alexander, died in a hospital two hours after he was attacked.
The suspect belongs to the extreme rightwing Free German Workers Party. A second neo-Nazi involved in the assault is still at large.
Hundreds of demonstrators protested against neo-Nazi activities in Gottingen only two days before the soldier was attacked. They claimed the local authorities are too easy on extremists of the right, who are known to have considerable popular support in the area.
