Emil Kassner, a police inspector in Cloppenberg, was arrested here today at the request of the Central Office for the Investigation of Nazi Crimes in Ludwigsburg.
Officials said Kassner was suspected of having participated in the 1942 murders of some 18, 000 Jews in the Kowel region of Nazi-occupied Ukraine. The suspect, who has been a member of the Social Democratic party for many years, was ousted from the party because of his arrest.
