A preliminary investigation against Dr. Werner Heyde, the notorious “euthanasia” doctor, has been started by the Limburg prosecutor’s office, Fritz Bauer, Attorney General of Hesse, announced today.
A simultaneous investigation has been started against Gerhardt Bohne, an attorney, who had an administrative post on Hitler’s euthanasia staff for which Dr. Heyde was one of the chief medical advisers.
Dr. Heyde has been charged with the murder of many thousands of mental patients and political prisoners. Bohne has been charged with complicity in the murder of about 10,000 victims. The two men have been detained in a Frankfurt prison since 1959. The case was turned over to the Limburg prosecution because most of the crimes charged against the two were committed in the Hadamar mental sanatorium near Limburg.
