The Association of German Students Organizations announced today it was studying the possibilities of intensification of teaching about Judaism and Israel in West German schools and universities. The study is being more in cooperation with the Friedrich-Ebert Foundation.
The Association said a conference of experts would be called in June to consider the study and to make specific recommendations. Conference participants will include school administrators, theologians, social scientists and other educators. The Association declared that “systematic and long-term study of Judaism and Israel will prevent anti-Semitic attitudes from developing from the outset. “
A campaign to raise funds for scholarships for Israel students and for possible exchanges of students and professors between Israel and West Germany will begin soon throughout the Federal Republic. the West German News Agency reported today. The campaign will be organized by the “Working Committee for International Understanding Among Youth. ” The organization is described as a private one with a membership of 3, 500 persons.
