Ninety-five percent of the Germans who wrote to the Bavarian Radio after listening to a broadcast over the station sharply criticizing the Federal Government for failing to implement indemnification legislation for Nazi victims approved of this criticism, it was indicated here today following an analysis of the mail reaction received by the station.
The broadcast, lasting 45 minutes, listed numerous instances of inconsiderate treatment of surviving victims of Nazi persecution and contrasted this with the preferential treatment given former Nazi civil servants. Forty percent of the listeners approving the criticism admitted in their letters that they had been members of the Nazi Party or sympathizers.
