The European premier of “The Wall,” an adaptation of John Hersey’s novel depicting the Nazi brutalities against Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto, was given here last night and left a profound impression on both audience and critics.
Respectful silence after the final curtain indicated, better than applause could have done, the fact that the audience was greatly moved by the presentation depicting the sufferings and destruction of the Jews of the Warsaw ghetto. The Munich press this morning hailed the performance and complimented the work of producer Kurt Meisel for his realistic presentation of a typical cross-section of the happenings in the Warsaw ghetto from 1940 to 1943.
