Representatives of the West German police were instructed by Criminal Investigation Division headquarters here today to raise again the question of the seizure of Nazi war criminals in other countries by Interpol, the international police organization, at the latter’s forthcoming conference in Caracas, Venezuela.
Interpol has rejected all applications for assistance in apprehending Nazi war criminals on the grounds that it was the organizations policy not to assist in the search for “political criminals.” German CID officials were recently turned down on requests for Interpol aid in locating Dr. Josef Mengele, the Auschwitz “selection doctor, ” who was reported to be hiding in Paraguay under a number of aliases.
