Professor Michael Heidelberger, New York-born Jewish biochemist and top specialist in the field of immuno-chemistry, was today awarded the 1954 Behring Prize in a ceremony held here to commemorate the 100th birthday of the discoverer of the diphtheria serum and the tetanus antitoxin, Emil von Behring, whose work was associated with the local University.
