Germany to Make Advance Payments to Austria for Nazi Victims

West Germany will make advance payments on the $80, 000, 000 it has agreed to contribute to an Austrian fund for compensation of victims of the Nazi period in Austria. it was reported here today. This will make it possible for Austria to make its first payments this fall, the report said.

Political and racial persecutees of the Nazi regime in Austria will receive a total of $25, 000, 000 from the German contribution, it was reported. A similar sum has been allocated for compensation for social security funds confiscated by the Nazis. A total of $30, 000, 000 will go to former German citizens who fled to Austria after the war from countries taken over by the Communist regimes.

The agreement for the West German contribution was reached Monday night in talks at Bad Kreuzbach between officials of the two Governments. Austrian victims of nazism have waited more than 16 years on their claims for compensation.
