The German Government will protest to the Government of Hungary against the insulting references to Walter Rathenau, late German Jewish statesman, made by the state attorney at the trial of Baron Ludwig Hatvany before the Royal Court.
Reports to this effect were current today in parliamentary circles here, following a heated debate which took place in parliament as an aftermath of the verdict sentencing Baron Hatvany to four years imprisonment. Democratic and Socialist deputies protested against the state attorney’s insulting references to Rathenau who, he declared, “drove Germany to misfortune.” The deputies charged the Ministry of Justice with a deliberate tendency of advancing only such judges who are noted for their reactionary and anti-Semitic views.
