An agreement detailing the list of goods to be sent to Israel during the tenth year of the Reparations Agreement was signed here Friday by Dr. Hans Goers, representing the West German Foreign Ministry and Ambassador Eliezer Shinnar, head of Israel’s Mission here, it was reported today. The agreement covers the period from April 1, 1961, to March 31, 1962.
A communique issued by the Israel Mission today stated that there were no basic deviations from the arrangements made in past years. The Bonn Government this year again limited the allocation for annual deliveries to Israel to goods worth 250,000, 000 deutschemarks ($60,000, 000). Seventy-five million deutschemarks were allotted for oil deliveries.
The communique stressed that rumors about an extension or renewal of the reparations treaty beyond 1965 were without factual basis. “These allegations were spread during recent years by interested sources in order to disturb the relations between the Federal Republic and Israel, ” the communique declared.
During the past year, the communique added, trade between the two countries had developed satisfactorily. According to preliminary figures, Israel made purchases from the Federal Republic and West Berlin outside the Reparations Agreement amounting to about 80, 000,000 deutschemarks ($20, 000, 000) compared with 45, 000, 000 deutschemarks in 1959. Israeli exports to the Federal Republic approximated 75, 000, 000 deutschemarks as against 65, 000, 000 in 1959 and consisted of up to 60 percent of citrus fruit.
