Germany’s foreign minister plans to begin a seven-day trip to the Middle East next week. Joschka Fischer happened to be on a visit to Israel in June when a Palestinian suicide bomber killed 21 Israelis outside a Tel Aviv disco. In the immediate aftermath of the blast, Fischer held talks with Israeli and Palestinian officials that led to a short-lived cease-fire.
