Germany’s Only Yiddish Newspaper Closes; Faced Financial Difficulties

Neue Juedische Zeitung, West Germany’s only Yiddish-language periodical, suspended publication this week with its 500th issue. Marian Giede, editor of the weekly, said that the suspension was due to a lack of financial support for the paper, which had been published since 1951.
