The West German Federal Republic has accepted liability of 21 billion marks ($5,000,000,000) for the wrongs done by the Nazi regime, according to a study published by the information service of Chancellor Konrad Adenauer’s Christian Democratic Party.
The largest part of this total–16 billion marks–is allocated to indemnification of individual victims of Nazism. Four billion marks represents reparations to the State of Israel. A total of 709 million marks has been allocated for victims of the Nazi occupation in Denmark, Luxumburg, Norway, Holland and France.
