Activities of the German secret State police in England are being closely watched by the responsible authorities and appropriate action will be taken wherever expedient, it was revealed today by Sir John Simon, Home Secretary, in the House of Commons.

The Government is aware of the activities of the Nazi secret service in England, Sir John said in reply to a question on the floor, but it would not be in the public interest to tell in detail the measures taken to handle such activities.

Ellis Smith, Laborite, had asked about disclosures pointing to activities of the Gestapo made in connection with the trial of Hans Wesemann, a Nazi agent, for the kidnaping of Berthold Jakob, a Jewish refugee journalist, into Germany from Switzerland.
