Johann Rixinger, former Gestapo official, was sentenced yesterday to ten years imprisonment by an Austrian Peoples’ Court for aiding in the expulsion of Jews from Austria. Rixinger was also found guilty of appropriating Jewish property.
Testimony was given on behalf of the defendant by several Jewish witnesses, including Dr. Richard Loewenherz, leader of the Vienna Jewish community during the Nazi regime, who is now in the United States. Loewenherz’ statement was introduced in the form of an affidavit.
