Austrian authorities today indicted Konrad Buchmayer, a butcher, on charges of having tortured and murdered Jews in Radom, Poland, during the war.
Buchmayer is said to have beaten and shot a number of Jewish slave laborers who were too ill to continue working in a quarry at Radom. A supervisor in the Radom ghetto, Buchmayer ordered the execution of some 1,800 Jews in November of 1943 when the Gestapo ordered the liquidation of the ghatto.
