A young Jewish girl student of Warsaw University, Ziviah Asterblum, will go on trial in May on a charge of “insulting the Polish nation” by shouting “Cattle” at rioters beating Jews on the university grounds. She has been released on 10,000 zlotys bail after spending several days in jail.

The authorities had originally demanded that bail of 25,000 zlotys be set because of the alleged seriousness of the offense since one of the anti-Semitic students charged the girl had shouted, “Polish cattle” He also accused the girl, who comes from a prominent assimilationist family, of leading a Jewish self-defense unit.
