A tract of land on the Mount of Olives facing Jerusalem has been donated to the Travel Institute of Bible Research, by a woman who desires to remain anonymous, the “Sunday School Times” announced. An undenominational Protestant Bible study center will be erected on the site as soon as sufficient funds are available, the land will be converted into a garden with retreats for prayer and meditation. Bibles and hymn books in all languages will be provided.
The land borders on what is believed to be in Christian tradition, the site where Jesus wept over Jerusalem, and is a short distance east of the Brook Kidron and the garden of Gethsemane. The purchase of this tract is said to be the first instance in history that land on the Mount of Olives has been owned by a Protestant church organization.
