The 1959 campaign of the United Israel Appeal has gone into high gear in the Union of South Africa, and pledges and contributions are being made at higher figures than ever before according to Appeal headquarters here.
All over the Dominion, UDA officials said today, donors are increasing their contributions materially in response to the need for financing the transportation of East European Jews into Israel and the settlement and absorption of the newcomers in Israel. The campaign is expected to reach a higher peak next week when Col. Joseph Nevo, an Israeli war hero, is scheduled to arrive to address a series of meetings and rallies.
