The New York Times declares editorially that the way for King Carol’s coup in Rumania was “cleared by the very excesses and stupidities of the Goga cabinet, which the monarch had forced upon the country.” The Herald Tribune sees Goga’s downfall as a defeat for Fascism in Rumania and expresses the belief that “the new government may be able to undo the damage done to Rumania by Goga and his regime.”
