Three new settlements are under construction in the southern Golan Heights near the Syrian border, it was disclosed today. They are being built by the land settlement department of the World Zionist Organization which has established 17 settlements in the Golan Heights since the region was captured from Syria in the Six-Day War.
The settlements are Nov, where some settlers have already taken up residence although it will not be completed for three months; Haruv, which will be ready in three months, and Tel Zayyit which is expected to be completed within a year Nov and Tel Zayyit will be settled by religious settlers of the Hapoel Hamizrachi movement.
Construction of cow barns has begun at Nov which has been allotted 200 calves out of 1200 imported from the U.S. and Canada for Golan Heights settlements. An hydraulic pumping plant is under construction at Haruv. Seventy new immigrants from the Soviet Union are waiting to join the Golan settlers in constructing a technical plant. Plans call for the establishment of a regional center in Yehudiyah to serve the Golan settlements within 2-3 years.
