“Old Gold and Silver Month” gets under way today at Thrift House, 9 West Fifty-seventh street. Old gold and silver articles will be sold, with proceeds going to the Federation for the Support of Jewish Philanthropic Societies.
A message from Ina Claire, who played the lead in the late David Belasco’s production of “The Gold Diggers,” was made public yesterday in which the actress wished good luck “to the Thrift House gold diggers of 1934.”
The window of Thrift House is being decorated with gold and silver and a series of teas to which guests will bring donations of gold and silver trinkets are being held.
