President Arturo Alessandri today received Mrs. Gold Meir, Foreign Minister of Israel, as the Israeli visitor continued her triumphal tour of South America.
Prior to her reception by the President, at Government House, Mrs. Meir paid her formal respects to Foreign Minister German Vergara, and after seeing the President she visited Congress where she was greeted by Senate President Herman Videla and Raul Juliet, president of the Chamber of Deputies. Tonight, Mr. Vergara gave a gala dinner in honor of Mrs. Meir.
Earlier, she was guest of honor at a dinner given by Mayor Ramon Alvarez, who awarded to the Israeli Foreign Minister the Medal of Distinction. She was also feted at a luncheon given by the Jewish community here and at a dinner at the Israel Embassy, where the host was Israel’s Ambassador Eliezer Duron.
