The work undertaken by the Palestine government to repair the Church of the Holy Sepulchre has created a delicate diplomatic situation due to objections raised by consuls representing Catholic governments.
The Catholic consuls in Jerusalem met yesterday in joint session to discuss the matter, the view being expressed that the move of the Palestine government is not entirely in conformity with the status of the Holy Sites as provided by the Palestine Mandate. It was decided that the consuls refer the matter to their respective governments.
