There was no official government reaction by late this afternoon to the report in yesterday’s New York Times that Israel has nuclear capability. But government sources described the report as “speculative,” “unauthoritative” and “inaccurate.” The sources repeated Israel’s contention that it is not a nuclear power and will not initiate the use of such weaponry in the Middle East.
