Judge Philip L. Sykes, who was reelected to the bench of the Orphans’ Court here last Election Day, was naved by Governor Albert C. Ritchie as Chief Justice of that court. Judge Sykes, a Democrat, has ben a member of the court since 1928, when he was appointed by Governor Ritchie.
Fifty years old, Judge Sykes was educated at Baltimore City College, Johns Hopkins University and the University of Maryland Law School. Active in Jewish communal life, he has been president of the board of Jewish Education and of the United Hebrew Charities.
