Gov. W. Averill Harriman of New York arrived in Israel today for a short visit as a guest of the Israel Government. Upon arrival, he said that the greatest task facing the Middle East was peace and expressed the hope that the United States “will act in this direction.” He expressed satisfaction with his ability to come to Israel and see the “miracle” of Jewish statehood.
