Governor Herbert H. Lehman announced yesterday that he had signed a bill changing the date of the fall primaries this year because the date as provided by the election law, the third Tuesday of the month, falls on Yom Kippur.
The change is from Tuesday, September 18, to Thursday, September 13.
Introduced by Minority Leader Irwin Steingut, the bill was passed unanimously by both houses of the legislature.
