Governor Lehman expressed his interest in a project by Hadassah and the American Jewish Physicians’ Committee to build a medical center in Jerusalem it a letter to Hadassah, it was announced yesterday. The medical center will be known as the Hadassah-University Hospital.

“The plans which have been made for the medical center are in line with the pioneering and constructive medical work which Hadassah has carried on with such great vision over a period of some twenty years,” the Governor’s letter states.

“It has been a source of great satisfaction to me to have been able through my association with the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee to work in the closest relationship with Hadassah since 1915. My familiarity with and interest in the valuable health work which has been carried on by your organization for the benefit of an entire country gives me the privilege of sending you my sincerest wishes for the further success of your activities.”

Hadassah and the American Jewish Physicians’ Committee are conducting a campaign to raise $200,000 as a building fund for the new hospital.
