A proclamation denouncing Soviet anti-Semitism was Issued by Albert D. Roselini, Governor of the State of Washington, The proclamation was read into the Congressional Record today by Sen. Henry Jackson, Democrat, of Washington, who noted that “all over the world, free men are concerned about his ominous campaign.”
The Governor, in his proclamation, expressed a protest against “the press campaign in the USSR) which condemns Jews and Judaism as subversive.” “We protest,” he stated, “the discrimination in employment and education, the unjust and severe punishments inflicted on Jews for so-called economic crimes. We protest the use of the Jew as a scapegoat, the deliberate encouragement of popular anti-Semitism, the systematic attempt to reduce the Jew to second-class citizen.”
