After a stay of four months in the United States the interests of the Jewish National Fund, Dr. Abraham Granovsky, head of the JNF headquarters in Palestine, left by plane today for Jerusalem, to appear as a witness fore the Anglo-American Inquiry Committee.
In a statement issued prior to his departure, Dr. Granovsky expressed special satisfaction at the progress of the work of the Jewish National Fund in the United States under the leadership of Judge Morris Rothenberg. He emphasized that he is “especially happy” over the fact that the national conference of the J.N.F. in Pittsburgh, old in January, went on record as supporting his plan for the acquisition by the Jewish National Fund of an additional 500,000 dunams (125,000 acres) of land in Palestine, involving an expenditure of $44,000,000.
“We still have a long and bitter struggle ahead of us in Palestine,” the statement said. “It is, unfortunately, a struggle with our former ally and friend, Great Britain. I am convinced that the justice of our cause will prevail. Sooner or later the land edicts of the Palestine Administration, which seek to bar 95 percent of Palestine to Jewish land purchases and settlement and is based on anti-Jewish discrimination, will be abolished. We cannot depend, however, on the merits of our case. We must also take practical measures to thwart the designs against us.”
