Wooden signs in the shape of a Mogen David surmounted by the Royal Crown and the King’s initials, will be erected over the temporary graves of Jewish soldiers killed while fighting with the British forces, it was announced today by Dayan Gollop, senior Jewish chaplain of the British army.
The markers will not only be erected in military cemeteries abroad but also in cases of single burial where the family of the soldier so desires. The marking and care of the graves is entrusted to the Imperial War Graves Commission. After the war the signs will be replaced with permanent monuments.
