The Baal Chofetz Chaim, the Gaon of Radin; Rabbi Schneerson of Riga, the Lubavitcher Rebbe; and Rabbi Chaim Ozer Grodzenski, the Gaon of Vilna, three of the greatest orthodox Rabbis in the world, have issued an appeal to the Jews of all countries to come to the aid of Russian Jewry by providing them with Passover food for the coming Passover festival.

The lamentable condition of the Jews in Russia, and the great shortage of food which prevails in that country now, is know to all, the appeal says. The Jews in Russia are faced by the danger of being left without matzoth for Passover unless their fellow-Jew in other country come to their aid and provide them with Passover flour. We know that there is a severe economic crisis every where, but we feel that this does not release us from our sacred duty towards our brethren in Russia, who are suffering both spiritual and physical want, and we therefore appeal to all Jews in all countries to help the Russian Jews by sending parcels of food, especially of Passover flour, to their relatives and friends in Russia. We appeal also to the leaders of the Jewish Communities and to the Jewish communal workers in all countries to raise funds as speedily as possible to provide Passover parcels for Jews in Russia. We hope that all Jews in all countries will take heed of this appeal, and will contribute to this cause. only raised for this purpose should be sent to Rabbi Dr. M. Hildesheimer, at the Russian Relief Committee in Berlin.
