Chief Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Koretz, in a memorandum today to the Ministry of Justice, requested that religious marriage be made compulsory for Jews in addition to the civil marriage which will be required by a measure to be issued shortly.
The memorandum deals with problems of religious education and the results of mixed marriages. It asks that no Jew be allowed to declare himself “a religious” unless he has previously resigned from the Jewish community.
