General Papadapoulos was today ordered relieved of his post as commander of the military garrison at Serrai, following an inquiry into the anti-Semitic speech he delivered to the garrison on September 5.
The inquiry was conducted on the order of General Apapagos, commander-in-chief of the Greek army, who declared that no distinction is to be made between Greeks on the basis of creed and that “Jews differ from the Greeks only in religion and they are a valuable element in the progress of civilization.”
General Papadapoulos had coupled Jews with Communists as the enemies of Greece.
