The eviction of approximately 100 Jewish families from the barracks in the Cabristan quarter of the city was prevented today by an order of Governor Rhallis of this city. The Governor’s order stays action against the homeless Jewish families who have been sheltered in the Cabristan barracks since the great fire of 1917 destroyed their homes.
The eviction order had been issued upon the application of the Greek Railways Company which explained that it must have this space to build a new railway station.
A delegation of the Jewish community of Salonica visited Governor Rhallis ### and expressed the thanks of the community for his order to postpone eviction of the Jewish families. It is believed that no action will be taken against these families until the Winter is over.
