The Federation of Jewish Communities in Greece is studying measures to secure modification of recent legislation under which Jewish religious courts in Greece are being suppressed, it was reported here today from Athens.
The new Greek civil code was strongly protested by Federation representatives when it was first introduced. At that time, the Federation pointed out, the government was warned that the suppression of the traditional Beth Din in Greece would lead to “complications” among the country’s Jews.
