An appeal to Greek workmen to combat the Jews as responsible for the present economic difficulties has been issued by the Union of National Students, an organization closely affiliated with a number of national anti-Semitic groups.
The Union of National Students published the manifesto, calling for a boycott against the Jews, in June of 1930, which culminated in the firing of the Campbell quarter.
The appeal charges that Jews are responsible for Communism and that Communism in turn has caused their present misfortunes.
“In the daily fight for your children’s bread, for the improvement of your conditions of work, you have to face a treacherous enemy who is seeking by all possible means to exploit your misfortunes. This enemy, who torpedos your righteous fights is to be found in your very midst and is the sole cause of your misfortune,” declares the appeal.
“This enemy is Communism, which under a thousand masks and names seeks to drag you into internal war and revolution, to put you under the yoke of the capitalistic Jew of Moscow.”
M. Papanastassiou, chief of the republican union, is attacked as the leader of the party which, in the course of debates in the Chamber on the subject of the anti-Jewish disorders, protested against the criminal incitements of the national organizations.
