Greek anti-Semites have resumed their campaign against the Jews with posters containing anti-Jewish slogans and signed with the Nazi swastika, which were pasted on many public and private buildings throughout the city earlier in the day.
The renewed anti-Semitic drive is regarded here as a direct result of the fantastic charges made by the Minister of Religion against the Jews of Serres, Macedonia. He alleged that they had insulted the Greek nation and flag. The charges were immediately repudiated by the local officials directly concerned.
The story was, however, immediately seized upon by anti-Semitic newspapers as an excuse for a new attack on the Jews.
