Funeral services were held Friday for Gregorio Verbitsky, who died at the age of 68 after a long illness. Born in Argentina, he was a co-founder and assistant editor of the centrist daily, Noticias Graficas. From 1948 to 1964 he served as a press official at the Israel Embassy here, After two years abroad he worked, until his retirement in 1970, as the coeditor of the conservative weekly, Analysis. Verbitsky wrote booklets about Jewish colonization activities in the province of Buenos Aires and was the author of a pamphlet, “Israel as a Spiritual Undertaking.” His brother, Bemardo Verbitsky, is one of Argentina’s leading fiction writers.
