The John Simon Guggenheim Foundation announced today receipt of a gift of securities having a present market value of more than $1,000,000 from former Senator and Mrs. Simon Guggenheim, who organized the foundation as a memorial to their son, who died April 26, 1922.
In making the donation, Senator and Mrs. Guggenheim expressed satisfaction that the foundation had adhered to its purpose of promoting “the advancement and diffusion of knowledge and understanding and the appreciation of beauty, by aiding without distinction on account of race, color or creed scholars, scientists and artists of either sex in the prosecution of their labors.”
