Richard E. Gutstadt, executive secretary of District No. 4 of the B’nai B’rith, who last year put the fifth San Francisco Jewish National Welfare Appeal of $265,000 over the top, will take charge again this year of the sixth annual Jewish National Welfare Fund Campaign.
Mr. Gudstadt’s acceptance of the appointment did not come until a special session of District No. 4’s General Committee had first approved a resolution temporarily releasing him from his duties as executive secretary in order to fully prepare for the ensuing drive. He assisted Leon Sloss, Jr. in the 1928 Appeal.
Plans are now under way for the appointment of committees and the setting of the date of the appeal and the amount of the quota which is expected to exceed that of last year by several thousand dollars.
During the year several agencies, which have been deemed worthy by the JNWF committee have been added to the list of 35 agencies in America, Europe and Palestine which benefited from last year’s drive.
