In memory of Frank L. Weil, the eminent Jewish leader who was active in American religious, social welfare and civic life, Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion will establish a new center of learning: the Frank L. Weil Institute of Advanced Studies in Religion and the Humanities. Dr. Nelson Glueck, College-Institute president, announced today.
The Institute will afford to scholars of various disciplines the opportunity for an objective and impartial investigation of problems central to religion as they relate to these disciplines: history, philosophy, theology, literature, art and the like, Dr. Glieck explained. Fellowships will be for at least a year and independent and joint research, colloquia, symposia and publications are envisaged as basic elements of the program.
