Commenting on the fact that the Wailing Wall Commission will weigh evidence and study documents defining the status quo with regard to the Wall, the Hebrew daily, “Ha’Aretz,” asks “is this the way to determine the rights of the Jewish people to the sole remnant of a glorious national monument? Hasn’t Chief Rabbi Kook told the Inquiry Commission that documents are as unnecessary as a candle in the sunlight? Nevertheless we accept judgment, not asking for full judgment in this vale of tears, expecting only that the Commission will remove the malevolent men placed in our path.”
